Oral ‘Kay’ Sargent

Oral ‘Kay’ Sargent, 90, of Sandborn, Indiana, went to Heaven, on Monday, April 8, 2024 at Parkview Village Christian Care in Odon, Indiana. He was born on December 27, 1933 in Burns City, Indiana to Garrett and Farrel A. (Baker) Sargent. Kay married the love of his life, Carolyn L. (Peden) Sargent on July 3, 1953.

Kay was a US Navy veteran. He was a lifetime member of the Sandborn Baptist Church and lifetime member of the Sandborn Lions Club. He enjoyed helping with the Black Creek Festival every year. Kay worked as a farmer for many years.

Family left to cherish the memory of Kay include: three sons, Gary (Gretchen) Sargent of Owensburg, Greg (Lori) Sargent of Sandborn and Todd (Angie) Sargent of Owensburg; nine grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and a brother, Roger Gary Sargent.

Kay was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Carolyn Sargent and a brother, Rowe Dean Sargent.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at the Meng Family Funeral Home in Odon with Pastor Brian Patterson officiating. Kay will be laid to rest in Sandborn Cemetery following military graveside rites by the US Navy Honor Guard and Odon VFW Post #9627.  

Family and friends may call from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, April 10 and from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM on Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sandborn Lions Club in memory of Kay. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
