Springville man arrested following drug investigation

A Greene County man was taken into custody after state police allegedly located methamphetamine, controlled substances, and drug paraphernalia during a search of his residence.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed in Greene Superior Court, Curtis Ray McCullough, 28, of Springville, faces multiple felony charges including possession of methamphetamine (Level 5 felony), possession of a controlled substance (Level 6 felony), possession of a syringe (Level 6 felony), maintaining a common nuisance (Level 6 felony), and possession of paraphernalia (misdemeanor).

Indiana State Police Trooper Samuel Wagner reported that on Oct. 16, troopers went to McCullough’s residence in Greene County to serve active warrants. Upon arrival, officers stated that they observed someone quickly closing the front door. After knocking and announcing themselves multiple times, troopers made a forcible entry into the home and located McCullough inside.

While speaking with McCullough, troopers said they detected a strong odor of burnt marijuana. After securing a search warrant, officers searched the residence, allegedly locating suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl residue, drug paraphernalia, and a firearm.

Among the items seized were a gum wrapper containing a grainy white substance, shards of crystalline residue that field-tested positive for methamphetamine, small baggies with powdery residue, a digital scale, multiple smoking and snorting devices, and empty syringes. Troopers also reported finding an AR-15 rifle and ammunition hidden inside a couch.

McCullough reportedly told troopers the syringes were not his, claiming he “always snorts” methamphetamine, and said the firearm belonged to his father. He declined to comment further about the drugs or paraphernalia found at the scene.

All seized items were logged into evidence at the Indiana State Police Bloomington Post. McCullough was transported to the Greene County Jail following his arrest.
