Solsberry man accused of attempt to run into ex-girlfriend with his truck
/A Solsberry man, upset over a break-up with a girlfriend, is accused of driving through her yard, running over her mailbox and into her vehicle then attempting to hit her with his vehicle. She then busted his headlights out with an ax. Now he’s facing charges of OVWI and criminal recklessness.
John Greg Nicholson 45, Solsberry, was scheduled to appear in court for his initial hearing in early July but he retained a defense attorney and waived the hearing. He’s now charged with:
Operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, a Class A misdemeanor.
Operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor.
Operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalent to 15 or more, a Class A misdemeanor.
Criminal recklessness committed with a deadly weapon, a Level 6 felony.
Nicholson was arrested by Sgt. Bobby Pierce of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department early Sunday, June 24, and booked in to the Greene County Jail around 1 a.m. following an incident late Saturday, June 23.
Sgt. Pierce responded, along with GCSD Deputy Davis Aerne, to a residence in the area of Tulip Road and Lambert Lane after a woman called 911 to report her ex-boyfriend, Nicholson, was intoxicated and was behaving aggressively.
When Deputy Aerne arrived, he reported Nicholson was standing outside of his vehicle parked at the end of her driveway but when Nicholson saw the deputy, he attempted to leave. Deputy Aerne stopped him from leaving.
Sgt. Pierce said when he talked to the woman, she said Nicholson was banging on her door at one point and at another point was driving his vehicle toward her in the yard. She also said she had taken an axe and busted the headlights out of his vehicle.
Sgt. Pierce reported that he also talked to two other individuals who were at the residence and said they witnessed Nicholson drive his vehicle in the woman’s direction and they believed he was trying to hit her.
Sgt. Pierce said Nicholson showed signs of intoxication and was transported to the sheriff’s department.
When a certified chemical test was administered, Sgt. Pierce reported Nicholson had an alcohol concentration equivalent to .15.
Bond for Nicholson was set at $8,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. At some point since his arrest, he posted $800 cash and was released from jail. He is due back in court for a pre-trial conference in late July.
