When deputies went with a DCS case worker to check on the welfare of several children, they saw a pipe that field-tested positive for meth.
Joshua Bloodgood
Joshua Alexander Bloodgood, 29, Bloomfield, was arrested by Deputy David Elmore of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department on Friday, January 31. He was scheduled into court for an initial hearing earlier today.
A Department of Child Services (DCS) case worker received a report of multiple children living in poor living conditions with no heat in a camper on North Lawrence Hollow Drive. Deputy Elmore and Deputy Michael Coy both responded to assist the case worker on an after-hours assessment.
Deputy Elmore, the lead investigator in a case against Bloodgood, said when they arrived, the mother of the children said they were no longer living in the camper and she invited them to their current residence not far away. Bloodgood was also present and the mother said Bloodgood was her live-in boyfriend.
During the visit, with Bloodgood sitting in a chair, he allegedly moved a small piece of cloth and when he did, Deputy Elmore noticed a clear glass smoking device with burn marks. Bloodgood quickly covered it up. Deputy Coy took possession of the pipe and Deputy Elmore asked Bloodgood to step outside to talk.
Bloodgood allegedly admitted he owned the pipe and Deputy Elmore told him he would not be arrested in front of the children and it could wait until the DCS investigation was over. After the visit, Bloodgood and the deputy walked outside again and Bloodgood was taken into custody.
Deputy Elmore reported the pipe field-tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine.
Bloodgood was transported to the Greene County Jail where he was held without bond pending his court appearance.
Bloodgood has been charged with possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, and possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.
