More than 25,000 pounds of food distributed through Greene County Mobile Food Pantry over past year

The Greene County Mobile Food Pantry distributed 25,293 pounds of food to local families during the past fiscal year, thanks to the efforts of volunteers, community partners and local organizations working together to address food insecurity throughout the county.

According to Empowering with Passion Consulting, which partners with Terre Haute Catholic Charities Foodbank to operate the monthly mobile pantry, the total represents food distributed between July 2025 and July 2026.

Organizers say the pantry's mission extends beyond providing food. Each monthly distribution also connects individuals and families with resources that address a variety of needs, including health screenings, nutrition education, diapers, cancer screenings, insurance resources, transportation assistance and other community services.

The organization credited the success of the program to its partnership with Terre Haute Catholic Charities, Anderson-Poindexter Funeral Homes (Meng Family Funeral Home), the City of Linton, Mayor John Preble, local businesses that volunteer their time, and the many community members who faithfully serve on the third Monday of each month.

In a message thanking supporters, organizers said every volunteer plays an important role in the ministry.

"Each smile, each helping hand, each box of food, and each conversation reminds us that when a community comes together, we can change lives," the organization said.

Organizers expressed appreciation to every volunteer, donor, business and community partner who has helped make the program possible, noting their continued support is helping build a healthier, stronger and more connected Greene County.
