LPD issues warning about scam soliciting donations for school literature and coloring books

The Linton Police Department issued the following warning and information today regarding a man for donations to provide literature and coloring books to the local school.

“On Friday, September 6, the Linton Police Department received information of a possible scam attempt in our area.

“The information alleges that a white male was in our area earlier this week soliciting donations on behalf of a non-profit organization providing safety-based literature and coloring books for children at the Linton-Stockton Elementary School.

“Upon a preliminary investigation, the Linton Police Department has determined that the individual is not affiliated with the Linton-Stockton Elementary School.

“The Linton Police Department is asking for anyone who has made donations recently under similar circumstances to contact the Linton Police Department at 812-847-4411.

“Tips can be reported to Greene County CrimeStoppers at 812-TIP-LINE.”
