Linton woman arrested after high-speed chase, crash, drug discovery

A Linton woman was arrested after allegedly leading police on a high-speed chase that ended in a crash and the discovery of methamphetamine.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed Oct. 14, Kailee J. McKee, 36, of Linton, was arrested on Oct. 11 following a pursuit in southern Greene County on Oct. 10.

Patrolman Jerrad Pirtle with the Linton Police Department reported seeing a blue PT Cruiser on Base Road that matched a vehicle previously involved in a separate traffic stop where the registered owner had fled on foot. As the officer turned back toward the area, the same PT Cruiser was seen turning onto County Road 25 South.

The officer attempted to catch up to the vehicle and recorded a speed of 82 miles per hour on radar. As the vehicle entered a gravel section of roadway, the officer temporarily lost visual contact due to dust but soon came upon the car sitting sideways in the road, heavily damaged.

The driver, later identified as McKee, was found at the scene and told officers she had attempted to flee because she did not have a valid driver’s license and was a habitual traffic violator. She was transported by ambulance to Greene County General Hospital for treatment and later booked into the Greene County Jail.

During a search of the vehicle, Pirtle reported finding a clear plastic bag containing a crystal-like substance, suspected to be methamphetamine, weighing approximately 1.5 grams, along with another smaller bag of the same substance weighing 0.86 grams inside a black purse under the passenger seat. Several syringes were also recovered. Field tests confirmed the presence of methamphetamine, according to the probable cause affidavit.

McKee faces charges of possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 Felony; unlawful possession of a syringe, a Level 6 Felony; and operating a vehicle as a habitual traffic violator, a Level 6 Felony.

She is scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court on Oct. 15 for an initial hearing.
