Jim and Bette Meng named to Freedom Festival Hall of Fame
/The Linton Freedom Festival is proud to announce the induction of Jim and Bette Meng into the Linton Freedom Festival Hall of Fame, recognizing their outstanding dedication, service, and contributions to the community and the festival’s long-standing tradition of celebrating independence and hometown pride.
For many years, Jim and Bette Meng have exemplified the spirit of volunteerism and community involvement that has helped make the Linton Freedom Festival one of Indiana's most cherished Independence Day celebrations. Through their commitment, leadership, and willingness to serve, they have played an important role in preserving the Linton community for residents and visitors alike.
The Linton Freedom Festival, known for hosting Indiana’s largest Independence Day parade and a week of community-centered events, depends on the dedication of individuals who work behind the scenes to ensure its success year after year.
Jim and Bette have devoted countless hours and tremendous energy to supporting our community and the Freedom Festival. Their commitment, generosity, and passion for Linton make them truly deserving recipients of this Hall of Fame honor.
The Mengs have been recognized as community-minded citizens whose efforts have strengthened local organizations, supported civic activities, and fostered the values that make Linton a special place to live and celebrate.
The Mengs have a long history with the Linton Civitan Club and are instrumental in the Toys for Tots and Clothe-A-Child fundraising and distribution as well as the annual Civitan Ham and Eggs breakfast each July 4.
Jim was an active member of the former Linton Rotary Club and has served on the board of directors and is a past president for the Linton-Stockton Chamber of Commerce.
Bette serves on the Linton-Stockton Chamber of Commerce board of directors and the Linton Public Library board of directors.
Their induction into the Linton Festival Hall of Fame serves as a tribute to a lifetime of service and a legacy that will continue to inspire future generations of volunteers and community leaders.
