Vanessa Lynn Pursell, 37, of Bloomfield, was arrested by Indiana State Police Trooper Richard Klun on Wednesday, October 24, and booked in to the Greene County Jail around 11 p.m.

Pursell is accused of dealing methamphetamine in substantial quantities.

In a probable cause affidavit prepared by an investigator for the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office, Pursell is accused of selling meth in numerous transactions that occurred in the month of October.

Officers believe Pursell was traveling to Indianapolis to meet with her source of supply then returning to sell it in quantities of a gram or more at a time and in at least one case, one-half ounce at a time.

According to the lead investigator, the task force has audio and video evidence of these transactions as well as other physical and witness evidence.

Greene County Drug Task Force members assisting and contributing to this investigation included personnel from the Prosecutor’s Office, the Indiana State Police, the Jasonville Police Department and possibly other officers from other departments in the county.

Pursell was taken into custody hours after she allegedly returned from a trip to Indy and sold a quantity of meth in excess of ten grams.

Greene County Prosecutor Jarrod Holtsclaw filed a criminal case against Pursell today, Friday, October 26, and she appeared before Judge Eric Allen in Greene Circuit Court on the same day.

Pursell has been charged with:

  • One count of dealing in methamphetamine in an amount of ten or more grams, a Level 2 felony,

  • Three counts of dealing in methamphetamine in an amount between one and five grams, all as Level 4 felonies, and

  • One count of dealing in a Schedule IV controlled substance, a Class A misdemeanor.

Pursell requested counsel and Greene County Chief Public Defender Alan Baughman was appointed to represent her.

Pursell was first held without bond pending her appearance in court. During the hearing, Judge Allen set her bond at $85,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed.
