Domestic battery charge filed against woman accused of slapping man
/When a couple who was breaking up got into an argument over a dog and the man was gathering his belongings to leave, his girlfriend allegedly slapped him and is now facing a criminal charge.
Madison A. Lynch, 21, Bloomfield, is being summoned to appear in Greene Superior Court next month for an initial hearing on a charge of domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor.
Deputy Marshall Ryan Montgomery of the Bloomfield Police Department was dispatched at 1:18 AM on Tuesday, February 21, after Greene County Dispatch got a 911 hang up call originating from an apartment residence on West Turner St.
When Officer Montgomery arrived, a man was walking out of the apartment complex building with his belongings and said he was leaving for the night. When asked what was going on, he said he and his girlfriend, Lynch, had a verbal argument over his dog.
There were marks on the man's face and a red mark under his ear plus his ear was red but he said he didn't want anything done about it. He allegedly said Lynch had slapped him as he was leaving the apartment but he did not want to press charges. Officer Montgomery took photographs of his injuries.
According to Officer Montgomery, when he talked to Lynch and asked her what happened, she first said she told the man to leave and if he did not, she would call the police. He left and she hung up on the call. She said they were breaking up but nothing physical had happened. When asked about the red marks on the man's ear, she allegedly said she did not touch him.
Officer Montgomery stayed on the scene while the man gathered the rest of his belongings and waited for a family member to pick him up.
When information on the incident was submitted to the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office, a case was filed against Lynch on Wednesday, February 22, and the summons was issued.
Lynch is scheduled to appear in court for her initial hearing on March 27.
