CASA seeking donations for Voices for Kids silent auction
/Greene County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) is busy planning its annual Voices for Kids open house and silent auction, scheduled for next month.
The annual event will take place Friday, Dec. 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Greene County Magistrate Court on the courthouse's first floor.
Currently, they’re looking for businesses, organizations, and individuals to donate items for the silent auction.
“They should donate because funds raised are for direct use to the children of Greene County that are involved in the child welfare system,” said CASA Director Amber Spicer. “Funds raised each year are used to buy the children Christmas. Additional funds are used to purchase wants for the children, such as a letter jackets, which allows them to get things that are not supplied by the welfare system.”
Spicer said they are looking for items such as gift certificates, Christmas decor, and themed baskets such as home interior-themed, and cooking-themed.
“Any basket idea is great; just be creative,” Spicer said. “We’ve had in the past a Harry Potter gift basket, an astrological gift basket, and a Coca-Cola gift basket.”
All in attendance at the event will have an opportunity to vote for their favorite basket. Whoever donates the best basket will receive a $50 Amazon gift card.
Donations of gift baskets, gift cards, and other silent auction items will be accepted until Dec. 6.
If you’d like to make a donation, contact Amber Spicer at 812-384-2036 or JeanAnne Sanders at 812-384-8774.
