Busted: Suspected dealer allegedly in possession of 169 grams of methamphetamine
/A Linton woman suspected by the Greene County Drug Task Force of dealing meth in Greene County was arrested along with a man from Kentucky this week during a traffic stop. When a deputy initiated the stop, an object was thrown from the vehicle – the deputy said the object contained 169 grams of meth.
Brittany Estella Goodman, 34, Linton, and Robert Wayne Holt, 27, from Lawrenceburg, Ky., were both arrested by Deputy Alan Jackson of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department early Monday, September 7. Goodman was booked in at 6:25 a.m., Holt at 7:04 a.m. Both were initially held without bond until they appeared in court on Wednesday.
The Greene County Drug Task Force suspected Brittany Goodman of dealing methamphetamine since at least last July when a couple was arrested in Sullivan County. The couple was returning to Indiana from out-of-state, allegedly carrying over four pounds of methamphetamine, believed to be for distribution in Greene and other counties. Investigators had reason to believe that couple was Goodman’s source of supply. That supply line was cut with their arrest.
At some point since, investigators learned Goodman had a new source of supply in the Indianapolis area and may have been continuing to deal methamphetamine in Greene County.
During the early morning hours on Monday, September 7, Goodman was the driver of a white 2008 Ford Ranger that went left of center on County Road 1000 West. A traffic stop was initiated by Deputy Jackson who reported seeing a shiny object being thrown from the passenger side of the Ranger before the Ranger came to a stop. Robert Holt was a passenger in the truck.
GCSD Deputy Zachary Goad arrived to assist on the scene, along with Officer Andrew Duguay and his K9 partner Blitz of the Jasonville Police Department. When Officer Duguay deployed his K9 to sniff around the vehicle, the K9 alerted to the presence of a controlled substance. Goodman then gave permission for a search of the vehicle.
Deputy Jackson reported that inside the center console, he found a cigarette package containing a clear plastic bag containing a white crystal substance believed to be methamphetamine.
While the vehicle was being searched, other officers located the shiny object that was thrown from the truck. It was a silver aluminum foil ball. Inside the ball was a white plastic bag. Inside the white bag was a clear plastic ziplock bag containing a white crystal substance that field-tested positive as methamphetamine. Deputy Jackson reported that when weighed on the scene, the meth weighed 169 grams.
Both Goodman and Holt were transported to the sheriff’s department by Deputy Goad.
Both Goodman and Holt appeared in Greene Circuit Court on Wednesday, September 9, for initial hearings. Public defenders were appointed to represent them and both have been charged with dealing in methamphetamine in an amount of 10 or more grams, a Level 2 felony.
In both cases, their bond was set at $50,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. As of late Friday, they had not posted bond and both remained in the Greene County Jail.
