Two individuals were arrested in Linton last Saturday night after a K9 alerted to the presence of drugs in their vehicle. His bond is set at $50,000, hers at $25,000, both with ten percent cash allowed.

Christopher Dwight Deckard, 35, and Angela Dawn Deckard, 38, both of Linton, were arrested by Officer Joe Riley of the Linton Police Department last Saturday night, September 5.

Around 10 p.m. last Saturday, Officer Riley, the investigating officer, responded to assist LPD Officer Adam King on a traffic stop in Linton. Officer King had initiated a stop of a black and white Ford Explorer for having an expired registration.

Christopher Deckard was the driver. Angela Deckard was a passenger. Christopher Deckard’s license was found to be suspended with a prior conviction for driving while suspended.

When Officer Riley arrived with his K9 partner Kona and conducted a free air sniff around the vehicle. Kona alerted to the presence of controlled substances.

Officer Riley reported that during a search of the vehicle, he located a syringe and a clear plastic container in the center console that contained a white crystal substance that field-tested positive as methamphetamine.

Both Deckards were taken into custody and transported to the Greene County Jail where they were initially held without bond pending court appearance. Both were booked in around 11 p.m.

After they were booked in, Officer Riley learned that during their processing into the jail, Angela Deckard was caught trying to discard a baggie that contained a white crystal substance which also field-tested positive as methamphetamine. Jail staff said the incident was recorded on video.

When both Deckards appeared in Greene Superior Court this morning, Thursday, September 10, public defenders were appointed to represent them and bonds were set.
