Deputy Marshal Wayman JR Blazier of the Bloomfield Police Department was dispatched on Wednesday, July 31, around 9:16 p.m. after a caller notified dispatch of a reckless driver eastbound on State Road 54, headed toward Bloomfield. The caller described a blue passenger car swerving all over the road.

Officer Blazier headed out of town and spotted the blue car in a line of traffic near REMC. He turned around and got behind the line and said he could see the blue car constantly veering between the center line and the fog line. In Bloomfield, the car turned onto North Cleveland Street and Blazier said it failed to use a turn signal when turning onto Turner Street. He initiated a traffic stop.

Klein was the driver of a blue 1994 Pontiac Sunfire. Blazier said he detected the odor of marijuana and Klein exhibited signs of being under the influence. When asked if she was taking anything, she allegedly said she uses medication of suboxone and admitted she had smoked marijuana earlier in the day. She also said she had been eating while driving and that is why she was swerving.

Officer Blazier reported Klein failed field sobriety testing on the scene and was transported to Greene County General Hospital for a blood draw. Results are pending.

Blazier noted Klein was previously convicted of operating a vehicle while intoxicated in May of 2017.

Klein was not taken into custody that night, but a criminal case was filed against her last Wednesday, August 21, and a warrant issued for her arrest.

Klein was booked in to the Greene County Jail by a jail officer this week, on Monday, August 26. Her bond was set at $8,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. She posted $800 cash and was released with a date set to appear in court.

Klein’s initial hearing in Greene Superior Court is scheduled for Monday afternoon, September 9.
