Robert Ira Crowe
/Robert Ira Crowe, 94, of Solsberry, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2020 at Glenburn Home in Linton. Born February 5, 1926 in Greene County, he was the son of Burge and Byrd Jane (Bays) Crowe.
He retired from Westinghouse and was a farmer. He served two consecutive terms as Greene County Commissioner. He attended Sylvania Wesleyan Church and was a World War II veteran. He was a member of American Legion Post #450 in Solsberry for 74 years.
Surviving relatives include: his children, Maurice L. Crowe (Tina) of Solsberry, Cathy Pierce (Brian) of Bloomfield and Martha Sue Crowe of Solsberry; his sisters, Dorothy Helms of Bloomfield and Donna Fowler of Solsberry; grandchildren, Scott Crowe (Jamie), Adam Crowe, Jeromy Pierce (Renee) and Joshua Pierce (Amber); his great grandchildren, Mason Crowe, Colin Crowe, Owen Crowe, Beau Pierce, Tucker Pierce and Garhett Pierce; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Una June (Harper) Crowe on June 11, 2007, three brothers, John Russell Crowe, Richard Crowe and Alvin Crowe, two sisters, Marjorie Hudson and Wilma Hostetter, one great grandson, Gracyn Adam Pierce and his parents.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2020 at Sylvania Wesleyan Church, with Rev. Bob England officiating. Interment will follow in Sylvania Cemetery.
Public visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday and 1 hour prior to services on Friday at Sylvania Wesleyan Church.
The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to Sylvania Cemetery.
