James Abrams

James Robert Abrams, 71, of Bloomfield passed away Tuesday March 10, 2020 at Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis. Born December 4, 1948 in Greene County, Indiana the son of James Roy and Lucy Charlotte (DeFrees) Abrams.

Jim drove a school bus for Bloomfield Schools for 39 years and was a carpenter, he was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Worthington American Legion Post # 106 were he was the past commander and was the finance officer, he was a member of the Linton Masonic Lodge, Zora Shrine in Terre Haute, past chief of the Highland Township Volunteer Fire Department and member of the IVFA.

Surviving relatives include his son Matt Abrams, two grandchildren, Ciera and Jaden Abrams, his life partner, Donna Goad, 3 sisters, Beverly Kennedy, Linda Meadows, Janice Abrams and several nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by a son, Michael Joe Abrams, twin brother Michael Roy Abrams, two sisters, Mary Sparks, Charlotte Gabbard and his parents.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. on Friday and 10:30 A.M. Saturday until the hour of service at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

Services will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday at Jenkins Funeral Home with Pastor Melvin Camp officiating. Burial will follow with Military services at Grandview Cemetery in Bloomfield.

The family wishes any memorial donations be made to the Worthington American Legion Post 106 or Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church in Jim’s name.
