Robert Earl Starnes

Robert Earl Starnes, 89, of Lyons, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at his residence. Born May 26, 1937 in Worthington, he was the son of William Cecil and Emma Texanna (Kilpatrick) Starnes.

He was an Industrial Truck driver for Thomson/RCA. After retirement, he worked as a greeter at Walmart for several years. He served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of the Lyons American Legion Post #479; He was a member of the Assembly of God church in Lyons and was a Volunteer for the Lyons Food Pantry.

Surviving relatives include: one daughter, Diane Dale; one son, Robert E. Starnes II; a sister, Emma Mildred Pruett (Kenny); his grandchildren, Emma Combs (Dustin), Elizabeth Cobb, Michael Drogich, Jr., Gunner Earl Starnes and J. Kirk Wright; and eight great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Lee (Watson) Starnes on June 6, 2002, one daughter, Emma Lee Starnes on July 9, 1974, one great grandchild, River Mae Shelburne and siblings, William Starnes, John Starnes, Jack Starnes, Ed Starnes, Marilyn Starnes, Barbara Whalen and Audrey Hawkins.

Funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Lyons, with Brother, Stuart Frampton officiating. Interment will follow in Worthington Cemetery.

Public visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

The family suggests that all memorial contributions be made to the family for funeral costs, the Lyons Food Pantry or Greene County Humane Society.
