Richard M. ‘Dick’ Goodman
/Richard M. ‘Dick’ Goodman, 85, of Linton, Indiana, passed from this life, on Monday, May 5, 2025 at Serenity Springs in Jasonville. He was born on May 4, 1940 in Linton to Jere O and Myrtle (Corbin) Goodman. Dick married the love of his life, Karen L. (Scamihorn) Goodman on September 5, 1964.
Dick was a veteran of the US Army and then studied at DePauw University. He attended Linton United Methodist Church. Dick was a member of the Linton BPO Elks #866, Scotland Historical Society and was previously active with the Scotland Festival. He was remembered by many for working at Wolfe’s Service Station for several years. Dick was an owner/operator of the Tastee Freeze Drive-Inn years ago, giving many teenagers their first jobs. He then became the owner of Goodman & Associates Educational Material Sales, where he introduced the Letter People to many schools. In his later years, he drove for Ride Solutions. Dick enjoyed basketball, fishing, metal detecting and working outdoors.
Family left to cherish the memories of Dick include: his daughter, Jill (Chuck) Wilkes of Linton; his son, Byron (Shana) Goodman of Linton; four grandchildren, Trent (Katie) Wilkes, Madison Wilkes, Reuben Goodman and Aniston Goodman; great-granddaughter, Finn Wilkes; sister, Gail Bryan of West Lafayette; several nieces and nephews, who always loved coming to Uncle Dick and Aunt Karen’s; friend, Barbara Griffen of Linton.
Dick was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Karen Goodman; infant grandson, Quinton Wilkes; great-granddaughter, Maelyn Wilkes; brother, Jere Goodman and sister, Rosemarie Beecher.
Honoring Dick’s wishes, cremation was chosen. A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Sunday, September 7, 2025 at the Roy Clark Community Building in Linton.
