Jarrel Fred Helms

Jarrel Fred Helms, 81, went to be with the Lord Monday, October 19, 2020. He was born August 10, 1939 in Bloomfield, Indiana to Fred and Bertha (Blaker) Helms.

Survivors include his wife, Karlene Priest, whom he married June 2015; two sons, Jeffrey (Linda) Helms and Thomas (Kristina) Helms; one stepson, Ryan (Carla) Priest; four stepdaughters, Georgetta (Lance) Daters, Susan (Tom) Bowling, Fawn (Kyle) Stoner and Gayle Speyrer; four grandchildren, Jared (Kasie) Helms, Amy Hestand, Janessa Helms and Bryce Helms; six great grandchildren; two brothers, Bobby (Janet) Helms and Richard Helms; three sisters, Gayle (Fred) Gedrich, Joy Richardson and Frieda (John) Hudson; and numerous step grandchildren, step great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

He was a self employed contractor of Helms and Sons Construction for over 50 years. He was a life member of the Bloomfield Odd Fellows and a active member of the Church of Christ in Bloomfield. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He could always be seen with a hammer in his hands working on a project. He was a kind, humble and loving man that will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 23, 2020 at Walnut Grove Cemetery in rural Bloomfield, with Rev. Eugene Helms officiating. Masks and social distancing will be required. Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
