James "Jim" Meier

James "Jim" Meier, age 87, of Worthington, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Autumn Trace Assisted Living in Linton. He was born in Vincennes, IN on September 17, 1938, the son of Sheldon & Jennie (Yates) Meier.

He was a 1958 graduate of Graysville High School. Throughout high school he helped out on the family farm with his siblings and then went on to work for Clabber Girl putting up signs, then worked in the oil wells with his father-in-law until getting his job with Citizens Gas where he worked for 36 years and retired as a Superintendent. He was a member of Lincoln Christian Church and was on the Eastern Heights Water Board in Bloomfield. He was a bee keeper, keeper of animals, farmer and was the proud founder and owner/operator of Meier RV Park and Meier Family Properties.

Jim is survived by his loving children, Jamie Sue (Kevin) Hause of White Pine, TN, Cynthia Jean (Lee) Buskirk of Worthington and Robert Douglas (Lori) Meier of Johnson City, TN; grandchildren, Jonathon Hause, Jacob (Whitney) Hause, Taylor (Will) Webb, Alexandria (Ryan Frazier) Hause, Josh (Stephanie) Buskirk and Casey (Michael) Arthur; 12 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; sisters, Mary Mitchell and Roberta "Jean" McCammon as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Marilyn (Groff) Meier and siblings, Sheldon Meier, Jr., Charles Meier, Paul Meier, William Meier, Don Meier, Jerry Meier, Linda Tryon, Betty Chenoweth, Catherine Mason and Steve Meier.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am at Lincoln Christian Church, 8053 W. Terre Haute Rd., Jasonville, IN 47438, on Saturday, May 16, 2026. Burial will follow at Stanley Cemetery in Worthington.

Visitation will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton of Walton Funeral Service, Inc. on Friday, May 15, 2026 from 5:00-8:00 pm, and at Lincoln Christian Church on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of service.

The family of Jim Meier would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Autumn Trace and ViaQuest for the loving care and treatment they showed to both him and the rest of the family. They would also like to thank the many friends and family who have been very helpful and supportive throughout this journey.
