Betty Jane Wills
/Betty Jane Wills, age 92, of Indianapolis, formerly of Linton, passed on to her heavenly home Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at her residence. She was born in Linton in her grandparent's house on November 11, 1925, the daughter of Charles E. & Alma S. (Ecker) Wills.
She was a graduate of the Linton Stockton High School, Class of 1943 and a nursing cadet. She was also a lifelong member of Saron United Church of Christ, having sang in the choir and taught Sunday School. She was a member of Triad-Tri Kappa and served on the Girl Scout Council. While in Linton, she was employed at Citizens National Bank and the office of George Greene Accounting Firm. She moved to Indianapolis in 1951 and was employed at Indiana National Bank until her retirement in 1986.
Having a love and appreciation of music all her life she enjoyed her piano and organ and was caring and generous to family and friends.
She is survived by her sisters, Margaret Peggy Panky of Linton and Anna Louise (Paul) Shonk of Yuma, Arizona; nephews & nieces, Steve (Pauletta) Shonk of Grove, Oklahoma, Susan (Chuck) Murphy of Coulterville, California, Carole (Lloyd) Couchman of Lebanon, Pamela Pankey of Linton, and Janet (Doug) Gravemier of Linton.
She is preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother, Charles E. Wills, Jr. in 1923, a niece, Judy Shonk, and a brother-in-law, Don Pankey.
Funeral service will be held at Saron United Church of Christ in Linton at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 26, 2018
Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
Visitation will be at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 from 3:00-6:00 pm and at the church on Thursday, July 26, 2018 from 10:00 until the time of service.
