Barbara Ferris, age 97, of Deer Park, IL, formerly of Worthington, passed away peacefully at 1:15 am on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Journey Care Hospice in Barrington, IL.

She was born in Par, Indiana on August 30, 1928, the daughter of Ralph & Neva (Garriot) Lakin. She graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Home Economics and worked as a Home Extension Agent in Owen County and judged 4H sewing projects for many of the local county fairs.

She was a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed doing her needle point crafts and being a seamstress. She had an extensive Victorian clothing collection and enjoyed putting on fashion shows. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Worthington, Worthington Tri Kappa Chapter and the 20th Century Club.

Barbara is survived by her loving children, Kent (Karen) Ferris and Leslie (John) Yerger; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Amanda) Yeschick, Ryan Ferris, Kevin Ferris, Evan (Jordan) Yerger, Julia (David Vercher) Yerger and Megan Yerger as well as a great granddaughter, Charlotte Yeschick.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Ferris; brother, Robert Lakin and sister, Kathryn Glidden.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Worthington of Walton Funeral Service, Inc on Saturday, February 14, 2026 with Pastor Rick Pressel officiating. Burial will follow at Worthington Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of service.
