Katherine 'Kathie' L. (Wright) Vickers

Katherine L. Vickers, 83, of Rock Falls, IL, formerly of Linton, IN, passed from this life to eternity on Sunday, February 8th. Katherine was born to Harold R. and Maxine (Thayer) Wright in Indianapolis, IN on August 5, 1942. “Kathie” grew up in Linton, and met the love of her life, William “Bill” Vickers, where they married on May 28, 1966. They spent over 50 years together in the same farmhouse outside of Linton before moving to Sterling, IL in 2018.

Bill and Kathie loved to travel together, often stopping to shop for antiques, jewelry, and clothing. An old-school, stay at home mother to her two children, Kathie was an amazing cook who got tremendous joy out of offering hospitality to friends and family. Her kids and grandkids were often welcomed home with the smell of fresh homemade goodies in the oven.

Kathie loved Jesus and was a long-time member of Linton Assembly of God before moving to Sterling, IL, where she joined the Rock River Christian Center in Rock Falls. She sang in the choir and worship team, and helped with hospitality, including dinners and decorations for special events. Her artistic, creative gift came out in a variety of ways including her work as a beautician, flower arranging, several years as a cake artist, and some dabbling with painting.

Left to remember and rejoice in her life are her son, Brian (Joan) Vickers, of Rock Falls, Illinois, her daughter, Brenda (Chris) Gravesen, of Clearlake, California, four grandchildren Jordyn (Joshua) Norrick, Austin (Kylie) Vickers, Cecily (Fabian) Gonzalez, Corinna Gravesen, and four great-grandchildren, Miller, Mae, Clementine, and Junie Norrick, brother, David (Connie) Wright of Ellettsville, “sister” Sharon Dyer of Worthington. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Kathie was preceded in death by her husband Bill in 2022, and her parents.

Funeral services to honor the life of Kathie will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at Anderson-Poindexter Chapel in Linton, her son Brian Vickers officiating. Kathie will be laid to rest beside her husband, Bill, in Morris Chapel Cemetery.

Family and friends may call from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
