Read MoreA Solsberry man is facing multiple felony charges after a student disclosed allegations of sexual abuse to staff members at Eastern Greene Elementary School.
Ryan Vandeventer, 29, was arrested June 11 on a warrant that was issued June 10. Vandeventer faces four counts of child molesting—fondling or touching with a child under 14, each a Level 4 Felony; dissemination of matter harmful to minors, a Level 6 Felony; and four counts of possession of child pornography, each a Level 6 Felony.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed in Greene Circuit Court, the investigation began on April 28 when the student made concerning statements to peers during recess. School staff immediately intervened, and the child disclosed that the abuse was allegedly being committed by her uncle.
Detectives with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office conducted multiple interviews with school staff and the child. The victim indicated the abuse had been ongoing for approximately four months and took place at a family residence in Solsberry.
The child was later interviewed at Susie’s Place, a child advocacy center, where she provided additional information that supported the investigation.
Investigators also obtained a search warrant for Vandeventer’s iPhone, which the Monroe County High Tech Crime Unit examined. The forensic review revealed suspected images of child pornography as well as other explicit content.
The child also wrote a letter to her mother expressing distress and fear, which was submitted as part of the investigation.
During an interview with detectives, Vandeventer denied showing inappropriate content to anyone, though he acknowledged children could have unintentionally seen content on his phone.
Vandeventer is being held in the Greene County Jail, where his bond is set at $80,000 surety with 10% cash allowed.
He is scheduled to appear in Greene Circuit Court for an initial hearing on June 12.
