Indiana Criminal Justice Institute awarded $1.9 million to support victims of violent crime

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Criminal Justice Institute was recently awarded $1.9 million by the U.S. Department of Justice to bolster the state’s Victim Compensation program. The funds will be used to make payments to eligible violent crime victims in Indiana.

Indiana law enforcement conducting seat belt patrols in November

INDIANAPOLIS — Law enforcement agencies across Indiana will be out in greater numbers in November watching for motorists not wearing their seat belts. As part of the national Click It or Ticket mobilization, more than 250 departments will be conducting overtime patrols working to reduce motor vehicle deaths and injuries in Indiana.

Indiana Criminal Justice Institute: More drugged drivers in fatal crashes than alcohol-impaired drivers

A report published this week finds high rates of fatal crashes involving drugged drivers and that alcohol-impaired drivers are more likely to cause traffic deaths and injuries…. In 2018, more drivers tested positive for drugs after a fatal crash than were alcohol impaired.
