Worthington Police Department launches new phone system to improve local public access

The Worthington Police Department has implemented a new phone system designed to streamline communication and make it easier for residents to reach the services they need.

Effective immediately, callers to the department’s main number — (812) 875-2424 — will hear an updated menu with several new options. The redesigned system allows residents to:

  • Speak directly with the on-duty officer

  • Contact dispatch

  • Report local ordinance concerns

  • Request police reports

  • File complaints

  • Connect with one of the department’s full-time officers

Department officials say the new system is intended to improve efficiency and strengthen communication between officers and the community.

“We believe giving residents the ability to reach the on-duty officer directly will help build stronger connections and provide quicker assistance,” the department stated. “These changes also help us stay organized internally as we continue improving our services heading into 2026.”

The department encourages residents to begin using the updated phone menu immediately.
