Worthington man accused of driving with meth in his system

A Worthington man arrested yesterday was the driver of a truck that crossed the center line and hit another vehicle last April. He voluntarily agreed to a blood draw and recently when test results came back, they showed he was driving with meth in his system.

Anthony Lee Minks, 36, Worthington, was arrested by Deputy Marshal Ryan Montgomery of the Worthington Police Department yesterday, Thursday, September 16.

Minks was taken into custody on a warrant that was issued for his arrest as a result of an investigation by Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy Harvey Holt into a crash that occurred in April.

Minks was the driver of a 1999 Ford F-150 that was involved in a crash involving two vehicles at 7:40 a.m. on April 20 on State Road 54 near Warren Road. Deputy Holt reported Minks had driven left of center and struck the second vehicle.

During the investigation, Minks allegedly admitted he had taken suboxone and Deputy Holt reported Minks showed signs of impairment including unsteady balance and slurred speech. Due to his prior injuries in another unrelated crash, Minks was unable to perform standard field sobriety testing, but he agreed to take a chemical test.

Minks was transported and the blood sample was taken at the sheriff’s department then sent to the Indiana State Police Lab for analysis. When results were recently returned, they showed Minks had methamphetamine in his system at the time of the crash.

After the results were submitted to the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office, a criminal case was filed and an arrest warrant issued.

Minks was booked into the Greene County Jail at 5:32 p.m. Thursday with bond set at $5,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed.

Minks is facing charges of:

  • Operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, a Class A misdemeanor,

  • Operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor, and

  • Operating a vehicle with a controlled substance in the body, a Class C misdemeanor.
