Ivy May Utley

Ivy May Utley, 27, Bloomington, was arrested by Lieutenant Marvin Holt of the Bloomfield Police Department last Friday night, May 13.

When Lt. Holt was in the dispatch area at the Greene County Jail around 7:15 PM, he was notified that a woman, later identified as Ivy May Utley, was passed out in her vehicle in the parking lot of the jail.

Lt. Holt went out to check on her and tried to wake her up by beating on her door and yelling through the driver’s window where she had been sitting. He said it took over a minute to wake her up and then she was confused and at first did not know where she was then said she was at the jail to pick up somebody that was bonding out. Lt. Holt said there were no inmates that were being released.

While Lt. Holt was at her door, he said he saw a silver box in the floorboard of the vehicle with several items that are commonly used to ingest controlled substances such as a cut-off straw, several syringes, a spoon with burnt residue, and several q-tips. The q-tips later tested positive for methamphetamine. He also found a white powdery substance that resembled methamphetamine but did not test positive. Utley allegedly said it was a substance used as a cutting agent.

During the time he was talking with Utley, he also saw a syringe in her lap. After taking this syringe into his possession, he reported seeing blood on the needle and a brownish liquid substance in the syringe. When asked what was in the syringe, Utley said she wouldn't tell.

Utley was arrested and booked into the Greene County jail at 8:27 PM. She was being held without bond pending court appearance. She is currently scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court tomorrow afternoon, Tuesday, May 17, for her initial hearing on charges of:

  • Possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony,

  • Unlawful possession of syringe, a Level 6 felony, and

  • Possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.
