Woman found lying in a backyard winds up in jail
/After an officer found a woman temporarily unresponsive, lying under a tree in a backyard, he reported she admitted she had a “huffing” problem. She was arrested, accused of inhaling toxic vapors.
Crystal Renee Overton, 31, of Clarksville, Tennessee, was arrested on Wednesday afternoon, October 9, by Officer Andrew Duguay of the Jasonville Police Department.
Officer Duguay responded to a call of concern about a woman lying in a backyard in the area of McKinley and Keggy streets in Jasonville. He reported that when he arrived, he found her lying under a tree unresponsive with a can of “Blow Off Duster” under her arm.
Officer Duguay explained that some individuals inhale items such as Blow Off Duster in an attempt to cause a condition of intoxication, euphoria, excitement, exhilaration, stupefaction or dulling of the senses.
The officer advised dispatch of his location and situation and then the woman started moving around. She was identified as Overton.
When Officer Duguay attempted to take Overton into custody, she resisted but when he told her he was a police officer, she apologized and cooperated. During the standard search, Overton was allegedly found to be in possession of several pills identified as buprenorphine/naloxone, a Schedule III controlled substance.
Overton allegedly admitted she has an issue with “huffing” and has attempted to get help.
Overton was booked into the Greene County Jail around 2:30 p.m. She was held without bond pending her appearance in court.
She is currently scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court next Tuesday, October 15, when she will be formally charged with possession of a controlled substance, a Class A misdemeanor, and inhaling toxic vapors, a Class B misdemeanor.
