Walker with a warrant out for his arrest recognized by police officers

A late night walker in Linton was arrested last Thursday after officers recognized him and knew he had a warrant out for his arrest. Now he's facing additional charges for methamphetamine possession.

ERIC LEE WOLFE

Eric Lee Wolfe, 51, Linton, was arrested by Officer Janzen Franklin of the Linton Police Department on Thursday, July 14.

Very early that Thursday, LPD Lieutenant Bobby Pierce, who knew Wolfe was wanted on a warrant,  recognized Wolfe as Wolfe was walking on 1st St NE in Linton near State Road 54.The warrant was for failure to appear in court in a case involving misdemeanor domestic battery.

Officers responded and when Wolfe was searched prior to transport, Officer Franklin reported they found a plastic bag containing a white residue that field-tested positive as methamphetamine along with a clear black and orange syringe.

Wolfe allegedly said he thought the substance was methamphetamine but he was not sure and he said the syringe had been used for methamphetamine.

Wolfe was transported and booked into the Greene County Jail at 2:29 AM. He was being held without bond pending court appearance on the new charges, but he's also being held without bond in the prior pending case in which he failed to appear in court.

The new charges include:

  • Possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, and

  • Unlawful possession of syringe, a Level 6 felony.
