National Night Out accepting registrations for community partners up until July 31

National Night Out is around the corner and if your business or organization is looking to join in on the fun, there is still time to register.

This year’s event is slated from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 2, at Linton’s Humphreys Park and will feature police departments from across the county.

From now until July 31, they are looking for more partners who can help build a positive relationship between public service workers and the community. There is no registration fee.

“When people come to the event, people don’t have to give any money at any booth. It’s totally free. Partner booths can provide prizes and giveaways or provide a prize for the prize tent if they choose,” Clark said.

Thus far, the response from the community has been great according to Linton Police Department Chief Paul Clark.

“We’ve had a lot of support,” Clark said. “Donations have been amazing.”

Due to higher than normal donations, Clark said, they will be able to offer more prizes than last year. Prizes include electronics such as TVs and gaming systems, bicycles, and outdoor equipment.

Hot dogs and other food items will be served courtesy of Linton Masonic Lodge No. 560 and Davis Vending.

The Shane Lunsford Band, featuring local musicians Brady Smith, Chris Taylor, and Cole Riggleman, will perform from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

“We have a great event planned full of fun activities and a good opportunity to meet and share time with all of our public service employees, not just the police, but fire, ambulance, and other public services,” Clark said.
