Violation of trespassing order results in arrest

A 54-year-old Linton woman was arrested for criminal trespassing on April 7 after trespassing at WalMart.

SHERRI LYN SCRUGGS

On Jan. 8, 2022, Sherri Lyn Scruggs was trespassed from the property of Linton WalMart. When she visited WalMart on April 7, an asset protection associate contacted the Linton Police Department. Upon arrival, Officer Alan Jackson was presented with a trespass form, signed by Scruggs in December 2022.

Jackson and the asset protection associate located Scruggs in the fabric section. Initially, she gave a false name, stating her name was Melissa. According to the probable cause affidavit, she later gave her real name and admitted she knew she wasn’t supposed to be on the property.

Scruggs was transported to Greene County Jail where her bond was set at $500. She was released later the same day after posting $50.

She is being charged with criminal trespassing, a Class A Misdemeanor and is scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court for an initial hearing on April 27.
