Destiny Lynn Hardy, 21, of Bloomington, was arrested by Deputy Alan Jackson of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department last Monday night, February 24, as a result of his investigation into a crash in the Lyons area.

Deputy Jackson was dispatched around 7:37 p.m. after a driver called the sheriff’s department to report a vehicle was flipped over off the side of the roadway on West County Road 200 South near Lyons. Deputy Jackson responded along with GCSD Deputy Jordan Allor and Lyons Town Marshal Andrew Hamilton.

Both Hardy and the caller were on the scene when they arrived. A gold 2008 Chevrolet HHR was upside down in a ditch on the northside of West CR 200 South.

The caller explained she was driving westbound on the county road when she saw a woman, later identified as Hardy, walking eastbound on the road. The caller continued on then saw the overturned vehicle, turned around and stopped to check on Hardy. The caller called 911 and gave Hardy a ride back to the vehicle. According to the caller, Hardy told her two friends, one male, one female, were with her in the vehicle but had left the scene and left Hardy behind.

When Deputy Jackson talked to Hardy, she confirmed the story except she denied being the driver. She later admitted being the driver and said she lost control of the vehicle due to the wet road and bad tires.

When Skinners Towing arrived and rolled the vehicle over, the deputies inventoried the vehicle prior to towing and found a syringe with contents that field-tested positive as methamphetamine and a straw with residue that field-tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine.

Harding allegedly denied the syringe belonged to her and said snorting was her choice of method to consume methamphetamine.

Hardy was booked in around 9:21 p.m. and held without bond pending court appearance.

Hardy has been charged with possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, and unlawful possession of a syringe, a Level 6 felony.

When Hardy appeared in Greene Superior Court last Thursday morning, her bond was set at $8,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. A public defender was appointed to represent her and the next day, the defense filed a motion to reduce Hardy’s bond. The judge denied the motion. As of this evening, March 2, she has not yet posted bond and remains in jail.
