Three arrested in two separate incidents at a residence in Bloomfield
/Officers were dispatched to a residence in Bloomfield twice within four recent days. The first was last Thursday on the report of an unresponsive woman lying in a driveway. She ended up in jail along with her husband. Then on Sunday, while they were both still in jail, officers responded again to an active burglary in progress at their residence. The burglary suspect has also been booked in.
Jeremy Allen Martin, 44, and Andrea Renee Hamilton, 41, both of Bloomfield, were arrested by Detective Shawn Cullison of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department last Thursday, October 7.
Curtis Anthony Martin, 34, also of Bloomfield, was arrested by Lt. Marvin Holt of the Bloomfield Police Department on Sunday, October 10.
Last Thursday, October 7, Dispatch got a call at 10:47 a.m. from someone who said there was a lady lying on the ground in front of a residence on Eastview Drive. The caller said they’d tried to wake the woman but they couldn’t get her to wake up.
Det. Cullison responded and was there within three minutes to find a gray Chevrolet truck sitting in the driveway in front of a small camper. The driver’s side door of the truck was open and next to the open door, a woman was on her knees with her face on the ground in front of her. When asked, the woman stood up and said she was “ok.”
The woman was identified as Andrea Hamilton, who said her husband, Jeremy Martin, was sleeping inside the camper. Det. Cullison reported her speech was slurred and she had trouble standing. Nearby, he saw a multicolored glass smoking pipe in the floorboard of the truck with a pink and black metal grinder with green plant material beside the pipe. The material later field-tested positive as marijuana. When she retrieved her purse from the truck and reached in to get her identification, the detective saw a clear glass smoking pipe in the purse – it later tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine. She allegedly said she had found the items at her son’s residence and had taken them from him, that she hadn’t ingested any meth since 2003 and had only taken one Xanax that day, which was prescribed for her.
In a subsequent search of her purse, Det. Cullison reported finding a blue rubber tie-off, straws with residue, a digital scale and small plastic bags containing a white crystal substance – one was tested and was positive for methamphetamine.
Bloomfield Town Marshal Ken Tharp also responded to the scene to assist and questioned Jeremy Martin after he came out of the camper. Martin allegedly told Marshal Tharp there was a box of syringes inside the camper. After getting permission to search the camper, Det. Cullison reported finding the syringes plus a mirror with a white powder residue that field-tested positive as meth. Inside a lockbox designed to look like a book, he reportedly found more syringes, a purple metal smoking device, a clear glass smoking device with residue that tested as meth, clear zip bags with green plant material, a roach clip and a set of digital scales.
Martin and Hamilton were arrested and booked into the Greene County Jail shortly after noon. They were both being held without bond pending court appearance. Their bonds will be set during their initial hearings - both scheduled for tomorrow morning, October 14.
But around 7:41 p.m. last Sunday, October 10, while both Martin and Hamilton were in jail, Dispatch got another call to the residence – about a burglary in progress.
BPD Lt. Marvin Holt responded and when he arrived, a man told him he was supposed to be watching his cousin Jeremy Martin’s residence while Jeremy Martin was in jail and that someone had burglarized the place. While they were talking, Lt. Holt saw Curtis Anthony Martin walking between two residences headed west. The man confirmed it was the person he saw in the camper.
Lt. Holt left the immediate area and located Curtis Martin near the dumpster behind Ruler’s grocery store. When Curtis Martin was asked what he was doing in the camper, he allegedly named a woman he said had sent him there to check on it. When asked how he knew Jeremy Martin, he said he didn’t. (Note: Though they share the same name, there is no indication in the officers’ narratives that the two are related.) When Jeremy Martin was contacted at the jail, he said he did not give Curtis Martin permission to be in his residence. Curtis Martin also confirmed that the owner had not given him permission to be there.
Curtis Martin allegedly claimed that some of his own stuff had been taken and he thought it was at the camper, and that some things he had taken from the camper were in his bag, which was subsequently dumped out on the hood of Lt. Holt’s patrol vehicle.
Curtis Martin allegedly pointed out the things he had taken, including a small sewing kit, a black pouch with diabetic supplies and another small case. Inside the small case, Lt. Holt reported finding an employee identification card belonging to Curtis Martin (not Jeremy Martin) along with small Tupperware containers that contained items such as a small razor blade, small sections of straws, a brown, wet, powdery substance that tested positive as meth and a plastic bag containing a crystal substance that tested positive as meth, plus syringes.
Curtis Martin was arrested and booked into the Greene County Jail at 8:58 p.m. He is being held without bond pending court appearance and he’s also scheduled for an initial hearing tomorrow morning, October 14, when his bond will be set.
Curtis Martin is facing charges of:
