A warrant for the arrest of Brittany N. Knapp, 26, Bloomfield, was issued yesterday after a new criminal case was filed against her, but she’s already in custody.

Knapp was taken into custody last Thursday, October 22, by Indiana State Police Trooper Caleb Garvin after several officers arrived at a residence in eastern Greene County.

Knapp was wanted on three outstanding warrants on that Thursday around 4:22 p.m. when Trooper Garvin, Trooper Richard Klun, and Greene County Sheriff’s Deputies Devin Goad, Alan Jackson and Det. Shawn Cullison arrived at a residence on North Lawrence Hollow Drive. They were looking for Knapp.

According to Trooper Garvin, one warrant was issued out of Monroe County for a violation of home detention in a case involving charges of dealing methamphetamine, a Level 3 felony; dealing a controlled substance, a Level 4 felony; and possession of a hypodermic syringe, a Level 6 felony.

Another warrant was issued out of Greene County in a case involving felony resisting law enforcement, felony possession of methamphetamine, felony identity deception, two counts of felony criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, two counts of felony criminal confinement and misdemeanor reckless driving.

The third warrant was issued out of Greene County for escape – knowingly or intentionally violating a home detention order, a Level 6 felony.

So with officers at the front and officers at the back, Trooper Garvin knocked on the door. They heard movement inside and one man said he would go out the back door. When he exited, he confirmed Knapp was inside and said the officers could go inside.

Officers entered, loudly saying “State police. Make yourself known now.” One man came to the door with his hands up. Then inside a bedroom, they found another man kneeling on the floor. He was ordered up and out and after that, there was no sound or movement.

Knapp was located pressed against a wall in a closet, attempting to conceal herself. She was handcuffed.

In the process of clearing the residence, officers saw various illegal items in plain view including syringes and paraphernalia including a spoon and plastic bags.

While Trooper Garvin was talking to one of the men on the scene, the man said all of the female things in the residence belonged to Knapp, such as a purse, a make-up bag and a black and pink backpack.

The man allegedly said Knapp usually carries around just about any drug you would want. He allegedly said she carries both methamphetamine and heroin on her at all times, usually in larger quantities. The man allegedly said Knapp provides him with the methamphetamine he uses because they are good friends.

When a search warrant was executed on the residence and on Knapp’s vehicle in the driveway, numerous items of evidence were located in the items belonging to Knapp including medication bottles with pills that did not belong to Knapp, numerous glass vials containing various substances, a digital scale, numerous plastic bags, a large number of syringes, $936 in cash and a Taurus 9 mm semi-automatic handgun loaded with nine rounds of ammunition including one in the chamber.

Knapp was booked into the Greene County Jail at 6:12 p.m. and now she’s facing even more charges.

In the newest case filed against Knapp, when she appears in court for her initial hearing, she will be formally charged with:
