Solsberry man charged with battery
/A Solsberry man who was arrested in early June, accused of battery on a family member, had an initial hearing scheduled for yesterday afternoon. But he hired an attorney and the defense waived the hearing and requested a jury trial.
Isiah J. Killion, 38, Solsberry, was arrested by Deputy Zachary Goad of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department early Wednesday, June 3, after a caller said Killion had attacked him while he was sleeping.
Deputy Goad was dispatched, along with GCSD Sgt. Bobby Pierce, before 4 a.m. that Wednesday to a domestic altercation on North Patterson Road, Solsberry. When they arrived, they found Killion sitting on the front porch.
When they talked to the family member who had called in, he said he was asleep when Killion came into his room and started slapping and hitting him multiple times. He said prior to this, Killion had bad-mouthed him twice, and this is not the first time they’ve had a physical altercation. Deputy Goad reported the man had red marks on his back and redness on a shoulder and neck.
When they talked to Killion, he allegedly said he had slapped the man to try to get him in line, calling it a “good brother b---- slap.”
Killion was booked into the Greene County Jail at 5:18 a.m. with bond set at $5,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He posted $500 bond and was released, then retained Defense Attorney Guy Haskell from Bloomington. The defense then waived the initial hearing and asked for a jury trial.
