Christopher Lloyd Camden, 42, of Lyons, was arrested by Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy Jordan Gooding around 2 p.m. on Monday, April 29.

Camden was wanted and had warrants out for him in Greene County and Sullivan County.

The latest case filed against Camden involved an incident that occurred in Sullivan County but has been investigated by Det. James O’Malley of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department.

O’Malley explained that on March 9, he went to a firearms show in Dugger, which is in Sullivan County. The event, which took place in the Dugger Community Building on Hicum Street, featured numerous vendors displaying, selling, buying and trading firearms and firearm accessories. It was open to the public.

O’Malley said that while he was there, around 11 a.m. that day, he saw Camden who was inside the building, carrying two firearms, one in each hand.

O’Malley was familiar with Camden from previous encounters and said he recognized him immediately.

Indiana State Police Trooper Matt Fleener also attended the event and was in the building at the time O’Malley recognized Camden, so O’Malley made contact with Fleener and told him Camden had been convicted of armed robbery as a Class B felony and should not be in possession of firearms.

Trooper Fleener was able to take a video of Camden carrying two firearms and he got photographs as well.

The two firearms Camden was carrying were a pellet rifle and a bolt-action .22 caliber rifle. O’Malley is a firearms collector and he recognized and was able to identify the two firearms.

As a result of O’Malley’s investigation and further evidence obtained by Trooper Fleener, a criminal case was filed against Camden in Sullivan County since the incident occurred within Sullivan County.

Last Wednesday, April 24, a warrant was issued out of Sullivan County Circuit Court for Camden’s arrest and he was then taken into custody this Monday by Deputy Gooding.

Camden was booked into the Greene County Jail where he was being held without bond.

In addition to the Sullivan County case, Camden was also wanted on a warrant issued out of Greene County in another case still pending against him with a petition to revoke his bond. In that case, he’s been charged with felony domestic battery in the presence of a child. Camden is currently being held without bond in this case.

Whenever Camden is transported to Sullivan County to appear in court for an initial hearing in his latest case, he will be formally charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, a Level 4 felony, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a domestic batterer, a Class A misdemeanor. When Camden does arrive in the Sullivan County Jail, his bond there has been set at $24,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed.

O’Malley reported Camden was convicted of the armed robbery as a Class B felony and of intimidation as a Class C felony, both on July 24, 2000 in Monroe County.

In addition, Camden was convicted of domestic battery on November 19, 2008, and battery resulting in bodily injury on November 18, 2003, both in Greene County.
