Larry Edward Baire, 35, Sullivan, was arrested by Officer Alan Jackson of the Linton Police Department last Thursday night, April 29, during a traffic stop.

Around 10 p.m., Officer Jackson stopped a tan 1997 Ford F150 with a headlight out on State Road 54 in Linton. At some point during the stop, the driver was asked for consent to search the vehicle and he agreed. Baire was one of two passengers in the truck.

LPD Officers Janzen Franklin and Adam King assisted on the scene and Officer Jackson reported officers found a clear plastic zip bag containing a white powder residue in the compartment on the front passenger side door where Baire had been sitting. The residue later field-tested positive as methamphetamine.

Baire did not agree to talk to officers on the scene but after officers talked to the driver and the other passenger, they were released from the scene and Baire was taken into custody then transported to the Greene County Jail where he was booked in at 11:16 p.m.

Baire was held without bond until he appeared in court. During his initial hearing in Greene Superior Court on Tuesday afternoon, his bond was set at $4,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He has since posted $400 and been released.

Baire has been charged with possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony.
