Greene County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a Worthington man and a Lyons woman late Sunday afternoon. Both were booked into Greene County Jail on felony drug charges involving heroin.

Jeremy Adam Taylor, 40, of Worthington, and Jenny Renee Butler, 34, of Lyons, were both scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court on Tuesday afternoon.

Taylor is facing charges of:

Possession of a narcotic drug, a Level 6 felony,
Unlawful possession of syringe, a Level 6 felony, and
Possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.

Butler is facing charges of:

Possession of a narcotic drug, a Level 6 felony, and
Possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.

They were arrested during a traffic stop.

GCSD Deputy Heather Wood, the investigating and arresting officer, was on patrol with GCSD Sgt. Bobby Pierce in Lyons when they ran a license plate check on a vehicle Butler was driving – her license was suspended.

Deputy Wood said Butler was very nervous and was shaking during the stop and said she didn’t know her license was suspended. Deputy Wood wrote in her narrative, “she continuously kept handing me all types of papers out of her glove box.”

Taylor was a passenger, and his driver’s license was also suspended.

Both occupants were asked to exit the vehicle and Deputy Wood was writing a warning citation for the driver for driving while suspended, but with no valid driver for the vehicle, a wrecker service was called to tow the vehicle.

Then Indiana State Police Trooper Richard Klun arrived on scene with K9 Loki. K9 Loki was deployed around the vehicle and alerted to the presence of a controlled substance.

Officers reported a search of the vehicle yielded a small black safe containing several needles, a container with a blue pasty substance, another container with white powder, a spoon, multiple tie bands and a small straw. They also found a small baggy with a white powdery substance wrapped inside a tissue paper.

Butler allegedly said she didn’t know about the baggy with the white powdery substance but the black safe was hers and contained items she used for medical purposes. She said she has a prescription for Fentanyl and Oxycodone.

Taylor allegedly also said the black safe was his.

By the time the stop was over, both allegedly admitted to using the needles and heroin. Taylor allegedly said he uses heroin regularly, injecting it every day. Butler allegedly said she has used heroin but it doesn’t give her the effects she wants so she uses Fentanyl, explaining Fentanyl is more powerful.

Both were transported and booked in to the Greene County Jail where they were initially held without bond pending their appearance in court.

Deputy Wood reported the white powdery substance in the baggie field tested positive for opiates/heroin. Both the white substance and the blue pasty substance have been sent to a lab for analysis – results pending.
