Odon man arrested on felony OWI charge after allegedly driving 97 mph on I-69
/An Odon man was arrested on multiple operating while intoxicated charges after an Indiana State Police trooper allegedly clocked his vehicle traveling 97 mph on Interstate 69 in Greene County on the Fourth of July.
Douglas Ramirez Pimentel, 36, of Odon, was arrested at 9:27 p.m. July 4 on preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction, a Level 6 felony, and operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalent (ACE) of .15 or more, a Class A misdemeanor.
According to a probable cause affidavit, an Indiana State Police trooper was patrolling Interstate 69 near the 99-mile marker at approximately 5:54 p.m. when radar indicated a northbound 2013 Chrysler Town & Country was traveling 97 mph in a 70-mph zone.
During the traffic stop, the trooper reported observing that Pimentel had bloodshot, glassy eyes and detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the vehicle.
Court documents state Pimentel displayed six of six clues of impairment during the horizontal gaze nystagmus test, along with additional clues during both the walk-and-turn and one-leg stand tests.
According to the affidavit, Pimentel consented to a portable breath test, which registered an alcohol concentration equivalent of 0.189. After being advised of Indiana's implied consent law, he also agreed to a certified chemical breath test at the Greene County Sheriff's Office.
The certified breath test later measured Pimentel's alcohol concentration equivalent at 0.180, according to court records.
Investigators also determined Pimentel had a previous operating while intoxicated conviction from November 2024, resulting in the current OWI allegation being enhanced to a Level 6 felony.
Pimentel was transported to the Greene County Jail. His bond was set at $8,000 surety with 10% cash allowed. He was later released after posting $800.
