Motorcyclist airlifted after crash north of I-69 in Greene County

A Pennsylvania man was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital Tuesday night after a motorcycle crash on U.S. 231 north of Interstate 69 in Greene County.

According to the Greene County Sheriff's Department, the crash occurred at approximately 9 p.m. Sept. 1 on U.S. Highway 231 north of I-69.

Investigators said David Rhein, of Pennsylvania, was traveling southbound on a 2009 Harley-Davidson motorcycle when he failed to negotiate a curve, causing the motorcycle to leave the roadway and enter a wooded area.

Rhein was treated at the scene by the Greene County Ambulance Service and Taylor Township Fire Department before being flown by Air Evac to an Indianapolis hospital. The extent of his injuries was not released.

Deputy Braxton Clark is investigating the crash. Additional agencies assisting at the scene included the Bloomfield Police Department.
