Mobile food pantry, free health screenings set for May 18 in Linton
/Residents will have access to food assistance, free health screenings and community resources during an upcoming outreach event at Humphreys Park.
The Mobile Food Pantry and Hoosier Health Check will take place Monday, May 18, beginning at 10:30 a.m. at Linton Humphreys Park, 1300 A St. NE. Health screenings will be offered from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the park’s West Shelter House.
The event will feature a mobile food pantry aimed at supporting local families, along with a variety of free health services provided by the Indiana University School of Public Health-Bloomington.
Available screenings will include blood pressure checks, cholesterol testing and A1C screenings, which measure average blood sugar levels over a three-month period. Attendees can also receive nutrition education, grip strength assessments and information about fruit and vegetable intake.
Organizers say no appointment is necessary, and all services are free and open to the public.
In addition to food distribution and health services, the event will also offer car seat checks and connect attendees with local community resources.
The event is supported by a number of community partners, including the City of Linton, IU School of Public Health-Bloomington, Terre Haute Catholic Charities Foodbank and Feeding America, along with several local organizations and businesses.
