Brian Lee Rogers, 45, Linton, was arrested by Officer Joe Riley of the Linton Police Department very early Wednesday, March 24.

Around 2:45 a.m. Wednesday, Officer Riley responded to a report by a dispatcher of suspicious activity, at the police department, where a man was just standing inside the front doors in the lobby area.

Officer Riley said the suspicious man was identified as Brian Rogers. Rogers was inside the lobby and said he was needing a ride home.

Officer Riley told Rogers to meet him outside by his patrol vehicle and that he’d give him a ride home. But as Rogers walked to the vehicle, he said he had something in his shoe. Officer Riley asked what he had in his shoe. Rogers allegedly replied, “I have a bag of dope in my shoe.”

So Officer Riley told Rogers to take his shoe off and he then removed a baggie containing a white crystal substance from the shoe.

The substance field-tested positive as methamphetamine and will be sent to an ISP lab for analysis.

Rogers was taken into custody and transported to the Greene County Jail where he was booked in at 3:09 a.m. He’s being held without bond pending court appearance.

A criminal case has been filed against Rogers but the date of his initial hearing is not yet known.

Rogers is facing a preliminary charge of possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony.
