Linton man arrested on warrant found in possession of meth
/A warrant was issued for a Linton man accused of criminal mischief in Lyons who was a no show at his initial hearings. When he was taken into custody last week, officers reported he was found in possession of methamphetamine.
Harley Joe Shields, 28, Linton, was arrested by Deputy Zachary Goad of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department late Sunday, September 20. Shields appeared in court last Thursday.
Shields was wanted on a warrant and the sheriff’s department received information that Shields was staying in a garage on North County Road 1100 West.
On Sunday, September 20, around 10 p.m., Deputy Michael Stanley, the investigating officer, Deputies Jordan Allor and Zachary Goad and Officer Joe Riley of the Linton Police Department arrived at that location to look for Shields and found him in the garage.
When he was taken into custody, Shields allegedly admitted he had a marijuana smoking device in a pocket. Officers also reported that in the immediate area near Shields, there was a small clear plastic bag with a white powder residue that field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
Deputy Stanley reported that when a search warrant was issued and executed, officers found six plastic bags, all containing white powder residue, located on a workbench along with another pipe, a measuring spoon and a kitchen spoon next to the bags. They also found a Coke can turned upside down with cotton on it and a white powder substance on the can.
Shields was booked into the Greene County Jail at 11:13 p.m.
