Greene County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Harvey Holt responded June 2 to the scene of a single vehicle accident on County Road 1175 West north of County Road 200 North. According to the probable cause affidavit, while investigating the accident, Holt observed a can of beer, with some of the consents still inside, on the floorboard of a 2010 Chevy Silverado driven by Logan B. Jerrells.

While speaking with Jerrells, according to the probable cause, he admitted to consuming eight beers prior to the accident. He alleged he drank them while on County Road 400 North.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Holt reported Jerrells’ eyes as watery and his manual dexterity as poor. He also reported an odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath.

Jerrells consented to a Standardized Field Sobriety Test, which according to the probable cause affidavit, he failed. He also submitted to a chemical test, which was administered at the Linton Police Department. The results of the chemical test showed 0.201.

During the investigation, Jerrells admitted to a previous charge of minor possession of alcohol. That charge was filed on March 13, 2024 in Greene Superior Court.

Jerrells was arrested and transported to Greene County Jail where $4,500 surety with 10% cash allowed. He was released later the same day after posting $450.

He faces charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, a Class A Misdemeanor, operating a vehicle while intoxicated—first offense and no endangerment, a Class C Misdemeanor, operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalent to .15 or more, and minor in possession of alcohol.
