Linton man arrested after high-speed chase through Greene County

A Linton man was arrested March 18 after police say he led officers on a high-speed chase through Greene County while intoxicated.

According to court documents, Parker E. Gould, 22, faces preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, a Level 6 felony, along with multiple misdemeanor charges including operating while intoxicated, operating with an alcohol concentration of .15 or more, possession of paraphernalia and unlawful possession of a firearm by a domestic batterer.

Jerrad Pirtle, a patrolman with the Linton Police Department, reported officers were dispatched to the Citgo gas station after receiving a report of a man using a brick to break a vehicle window.

As officers searched the area, a vehicle matching the description was located. Police said the driver, later identified as Gould, fled at a high rate of speed, reaching 98 mph on County Road 200 South, according to radar.

Authorities said Gould continued fleeing through rural roads and into Lyons, at times turning off his vehicle’s headlights and disregarding multiple stop signs.

The pursuit continued onto State Road 67 and surrounding roads before the vehicle eventually stopped near County Road 350 South.

Police said Gould exited the vehicle and was taken into custody without further incident.

According to the affidavit, officers detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and observed signs of impairment, including slurred speech and red, watery eyes. Gould admitted to drinking whiskey earlier in the day and told officers he had consumed an entire bottle.

A preliminary breath test at the scene showed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.156, according to police.

During a search of the vehicle, officers reported locating a grinder containing a substance that field-tested positive for marijuana and a .357/.38 caliber derringer-style handgun in the passenger seat.

Gould was transported to the Greene County Jail, where a certified chemical breath test also showed a 0.156 BAC, according to the report.

Police said Gould made several statements during transport, including acknowledging he should not have fled and stating he was “still pretty drunk.”

Gould was booked into the jail where his bond was set at $8,500 with 10% cash allowed. He was released after posting $850.

Court records showed Gould was convicted of domestic battery in December 2023.

He is scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court on March 26
