Jayce Edward Troup, 26, Linton, was arrested by Officer Kyle Robison of the Linton Police Department early Friday, July 3, after Officer Robison was dispatched around 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, to an active domestic disturbance.

After a woman reported an altercation to police and said the suspect, Troup, had left the house on foot and described what he was wearing, LPD Officer Adam King located Troup on F Street NW near I Street NW in Linton.

When Officer Robison, the investigating officer, arrived at the scene, he said Troup was agitated and standing in the street holding a cell phone. When officers tried to take him into custody, he pulled away forcibly and allegedly hit Officer Robison in the chest, knocking his body camera off.

Officer Robison reported Troup continued to struggle with the officers and hit him again in the arm. When Troup was on the ground, he allegedly continued to struggle and swing his fist.

Officer Robison hit Troup with a “dry stun” and Officer King then secured Troup in handcuffs.

Troup was transported to the Greene County Jail where he was booked in at 12:21 a.m. on Friday, July 3, with bond set at $5,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed.

Troup is facing preliminary charges of battery against a public safety official, a Level 6 felony, and resisting law enforcement, a Class A misdemeanor. A date for his initial hearing has not yet been set.

As of Monday night, Troup had not posted bond and remained in jail. However, he has two other criminal cases pending against him in Greene County. In one, he’s charged with theft, a Level 6 felony. In the other, he’s been charged with auto theft, a Level 6 felony, possession of a controlled substance, a Class A misdemeanor, and possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.
