Sherri Lynn Pabey, 52, Linton, was arrested by Deputy Michael Coy of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department and booked into the Greene County Jail at 1:47 a.m. on Sunday, February 14, following a crash that occurred on Saturday night, February 13.

Deputy Coy was dispatched at 9:47 p.m. on Saturday, February 13, to a residence on West State Road 54, Linton, after a caller told a dispatcher about an accident at her home. She said Pabey was intoxicated and was backing into her home, had hit the AC until and pulled guttering down. She said the air bags did not deploy and Pabey was out of the vehicle.

While Deputy Coy and GCSD Jordan Allor were on the way, the woman called back and said Pabey had left in a four-door white truck heading west toward Dugger.

When the deputies arrived at the residence, Pabey had returned and they saw an unoccupied white 2001 Ford truck sitting in the driveway with the engine running. Pabey was inside the residence with a male family member of the caller.

Pabey allegedly admitted she and the man had been at a bar and that she had been drinking beer and shots. She said when they arrived at the residence, she was backing up in the driveway and he was guiding her. She hit the house and the caller got upset with her. Deputy Coy noted the man also appeared to be intoxicated.

Pabey was transported to the Linton Police Department where she reportedly failed standard field sobriety testing. Attempts were made for her to take certified chemical breath tests but three tries resulted in insufficient tests. Pabey was then transported to Greene County General Hospital for a blood draw – results pending.

Pabey was transported to jail where her bond was set at $4,500 surety with ten percent cash allowed. She posted $450 and was released later on Sunday, February 14.

Pabey is facing preliminary charges of:

  • Operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, a Class A misdemeanor,

  • Operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person with a prior conviction within seven years, a Level 6 felony,

  • Operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor, and

  • Operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction within seven years, a Level 6 felony.

Deputy Coy noted Pabey was convicted of operating a vehicle while intoxicated with endangerment in Sullivan Circuit Court in 2015.

Pabey is scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court on Thursday morning, February 25, for her initial hearing.
