Shannon Kyle Story, 26, was arrested by Deputy Jordan Allor of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department last Tuesday, February 16. Court records show Story has a home address in Dugger but he told Deputy Allor he had been living at the rural Bloomfield address where the domestic incident occurred.

Deputy Allor was dispatched around 4:45 p.m. last Tuesday to a residence on US 231 south of Bloomfield after a caller told a dispatcher her daughter was in a physical domestic with her boyfriend, Shannon Story. The caller alleged Story had choked, punched and slapped the woman.

When Deputy Allor arrived, along with GCSD Deputy William Walker, Story was standing outside the residence in 12-degree weather. Story allegedly said there was just yelling and screaming and he was leaving. He had scratch marks on his neck and was bleeding.

When Deputy Allor went inside and talked to the woman, she explained how an argument had escalated and that Story had thrown a bag of clothes at her, taken her bed apart, choked her and held her down with his hand around her throat then choked her again by pressing his fist against her throat, and she was trying to get him off. She said Story had punched her in her ear and taken her phone away. Deputy Allor reported redness and swelling on her neck and one ear and a red mark on her neck in the shape of a finger.

When Deputy Allor talked to Story again, he allegedly said the argument started because she wanted to go play in the snow and he didn’t want to. He said he was playing on his computer and she turned it off. When asked what happened next, he allegedly said he got up and grabbed her by the throat and she grabbed him by the throat.

Story was taken into custody and transported to jail where his bond was set at $6,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He posted $600 and was released the next day.

Story is scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court next Monday afternoon, March 1, when he will be formally charged with:

  • Strangulation, a Level 6 felony,

  • Domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor, and

  • Interference with the reporting of a crime, a Class A misdemeanor.
