Jasonville woman arrested after allegedly blocking traffic, exposing herself

A 44-year-old Jasonville woman was arrested March 6 after police say she blocked traffic in the roadway, exposed herself, and struck a driver.

According to court documents, Sarah Davis faces preliminary charges of battery, obstruction of traffic, public nudity, and resisting law enforcement, all misdemeanors.

Chief Ryan Van Horn of the Jasonville Police Department reported he was notified around 7:40 a.m. that a woman was standing in the roadway on State Road 48 near Park Street and refusing to allow vehicles to pass.

When Van Horn arrived, he observed a woman later identified as Davis walking back and forth between lanes of traffic with her arms extended, stopping vehicles from moving through the area. Van Horn said Davis also lifted her shirt and exposed her breasts to motorists.

Van Horn attempted to detain Davis, who initially refused to comply and began walking away, according to the affidavit. The chief said Davis resisted as he attempted to place her in handcuffs before she was eventually secured and placed in a patrol vehicle.

During the arrest, an individual told police Davis had slapped him in the face earlier that morning.

The victim later told police he encountered Davis while driving on Horace Street. He said Davis repeatedly moved in front of his vehicle, forcing him to stop. Bredehoft reported that after he rolled down his window, Davis handed him a small dog and then began striking him in the head before walking away with the dog.

Two Shakamak School employees also told police they observed a woman standing in the roadway along State Road 48 who exposed herself as their vehicle approached.

Davis was transported to the Greene County Jail without further incident.
